(see above for an update!)Īlso, I'm very excited to (belately) report that Avidan joined Verilab back in January! Apparently he did a pretty good job answering all of those tough interview questions :-). If I learn anything new I'll post it here. Lets say that you have installed the graphical version and want to.

#LATEST VERSION OF EMACS FOR MAC MAC OS#
Chapter 8, The Emacs Editor, now covers GNU Emacs Version 21. On Mac OS X, you have Emacs preinstalled, but as we know, it is an older version of Emacs. I've sent Cadence Support a follow up email and am waiting for a response. This edition has the following new features: Covers Solaris 10. To get the latest and greatest features, there are community built packages like Emacs For OS X or Homebrew that are easy to install. It's an old version though, and it's recommended that you use the latest stable version. (I'm out of date with OSX, and ignoring the likely build-in ancient version of Emacs.) I'm a heavy BSD and Linux user, accustomed for work to Emacs in win32, Emacs self built in Linux and BSD, the usual rpm and debs, even cygwin. Sadly, though I didn't experience the problem Avidan discussed related to '-' comment markes not being parsed correctly, I did still experience the second problem where commenting out lines with symbols such as '' made it impossible to enter a new line of text. Emacs is included in Mac OS X, so you can just use Terminal.app, type emacs and you're ready to roll. Just received a Mac for work and therefore the first task of course is to get Emacs on there. Now, I'm not usually an Emacs user, but for the sake of all of you who are, I decided to give the new version a try. As luck would have it, they did have a newer version (1.22), which has now been posted to the Specman-Mode website. Regardless, once you have both files installed everything works correctly!Īfter reading Avidan Efody's description of bugs in Specman mode for Emacs and after being admonished by Verilab's resident lisp guru that the code on the site was at least four years old and that there might be a newer version, I decided to check with Cadence support to see if they had a more recent version of the file. Don't ask me how it works - as I mentioned before I know very little about Emacs.
#LATEST VERSION OF EMACS FOR MAC INSTALL#
Once you have the new version of Specman mode as described below, you'll need to install filladapt. The build date is listed in parentheses, in a YYMMDD format, after the version number. The table is ordered by release date, with the most recent release date listed first.
#LATEST VERSION OF EMACS FOR MAC UPDATE#
Update MaI just got a note from Avidan with some new information. The following table provides release history information and download links for Office for Mac.

If anyone finds any strange bugs in the updated version let me know or simply send a support request to Cadence, or directly to mac at verilog dot com.
#LATEST VERSION OF EMACS FOR MAC PATCH#
It looks like if you're using the latest version of emacs/xemacs you should be just fine using the specman-mode.el patch without any additional patching required. (setenv "PATH" "/Users/sean/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin:/Users/sean/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin1.3.Update MaOk. This messes up the ability to do a lot of stuff. MacOS X's Emacs.app doesn't set the path when you launch it. (global-set-key 'isearch-forward)Ĭhange the font to Monaco 10 (like Terminal.app)

The built-in 'mac'-style cut/copy/paste functions don't interoperate in a proper fashion with the Mac environment. (command freed up to do the right thing now that option is meta). Turn off startup message, use GUI-style selection, make Option the meta key.Ĭued to command-x, command-c, command-v. I developed these to convert Andrew Choi's Carbon Emacs distribution, which has been rolled into the standard Emacs CVS distro so future versions of Emacs on the Mac may be able to take advantage of this stuff too.
